Woman of Impact: Claudine Cooper

Wife. Mother. Fitness Trainer.

Hi! My name is Claudine Cooper, I've been married for 17 years. Mother of three. Worked in the gym for 25 years. Due to COVID-19, I had to reinvent my fitness career. Started teaching workouts on IG & FB LIVE. Constantly learning & growing.

How did you get to where you are?*

Originally from Minneapolis. Born to young parents. Oldest child of 6. Humble beginnings. Started working at the gym at 19 years old. Put myself through college. First one in my family with a college degree. Moved from coast to coast all by myself. Landed in Los Angeles. Met a guy. Got married. Had kids. Lived happily ever after.

What is the most impactful experience that has shaped who you are today? *

I serve my community by offering FREE health and fitness training. Whenever someone says that I have helped them live a better/healthier life, I feel impactful.

Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?*

I had to overcome poverty, but Overcoming poverty was not the biggest challenge. The bigger challenge was overcoming the poverty mindset. I still struggle.

What's something that you're currently doing or working on that excites you or you're most proud of? *

As a fitness trainer I am currently learning how to navigate the limitations that have been placed upon my professional career. The gyms in California have been closed for 7 months & I wake up everyday thinking of new ways to do my old job.

How does what you're currently doing now impact you?  *

I am NOT an anxious person. I do NOT worry. This is the gift I am most thankful for. Resting in the faith that everything will work itself out has been and continues to be my greatest strength.

What advice would you give to fellow women trying to make an impact? *

Whether you work at the grocery store or a Fortune 500 company, we all have the ability to positively IMPACT someone’s life. We impact the lives of others by being KIND. The measurement  of our character is based on how we treat the person who can do NOTHING for us.

How do you create "balance" in your life with all you do? *

I have no clue how to create balance, but I usually just spazz out on everyone in my house and that’s when I realize I’m depleted. So I take time away from the demands of a family of 5.

We as women have many superpowers, what is one of yours? *

My superpower is my ability to adapt to any situation.
