With my workouts transitioning from the gym to at home and around my neighborhood these days, I figured I'd share what I've been using to keep me moving and motivated.
My go-to workout music app is Rock My Run (not to mention it's FREE). Whether I'm at the gym or doing my at-home workouts Rock My Run offers a huge variety of premade genre mixes. The upbeat, nonstop mix of music will keep you going and moving until your sweat sesh is complete!
I fell in love with the Run Keeper app (another free app) years ago and love to use it to track all my activity. Don't let the name fool you, I use this to track my walks, hikes, runs - anything! It tracks your distance, time, elevation and more! Plus, it keeps track of your activities and will remind you of your accomplishments (things you don't even realize you're doing) fastest walk, longest run and more! You can add your workout partner, share your workout and even use features like marathon training. It's been a great tool to keep me motivated, track all my activities and accomplishments.
At Home or Gym Workouts
I don't know about you but send me into a gym or quarantine me and expect me to figure out how to maintain effective workouts at home and I'm completely lost! This led me to search for a workout I can do, without gym equipment, that with my ever-changing schedule between kids being home and now working from home that I could do at my convenience that would still challenge me and provide a good workout. That's when I found Alive By Whitney Simmons, it was created for you to take to the gym, but she has now modified it and added great at-home workouts. It's easy to use, featuring a simple format in which she teaches you via video the exercises, provides the amount of time for the exercise and recovery time. Each day features new workouts which are great to ensure you are working your total body appropriately. It's perfect for any level since she's visually walking you through each step, but most of all it's an effective workout that will leave you feeling accomplished and challenged even when working out in your living room. I signed up for a 7 day free trial in the app store, after the trial, the cost is $14.99. I've fallen in love with her workouts and will definitely be keeping the app going at least through quarantine.
I'd love to hear what you think if you give them a try or what your go tos are.
